$26.3 Million In Excess Equipment Not Reported, Not Redistributed To Other Military Personnel In Need

U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) had excess Special Operations–Peculiar (SO-P) equipment valued at least $26.3 million. For example, USSOCOM reported it had 17,571 handheld radios, and excess of 4,220 radios. DOD OIG identified an excess of least $26.3 million in SO-P equipment.

USSOCOM officials were not identifying excess equipment, and therefore, was not able to redistribute to other military commands like the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, which had not received its full allocation of kits.
