GAO’s Grant Management Solutions

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report documenting federal grants management and their challenges. Solutions include streamlining, transparency, collaboration, avoiding duplication, and oversight and accountability.

GAO cites numerous reports agencies can use to address grants challenges such as grant processes that are unnecessarily burdensome, meeting requirements for the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014 (DATA Act), collaborating with agencies who have similar initiatives, addressing overlap and duplication, and more consistently closing out grants and addressing oversight issues.
